Back mid-April, BioWare began showing signs that they were fed up with dealing with the inability to not include PS3 players with the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer events. After detailing the plans for Operation Exorcist two weeks ago however, they later provided an update with the happy news that PS3 players could finally join in as well.
Perhaps this official explanation of why PS3 players couldn’t join in on the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer events and access those important rewards caught Sony’s eye and forced them to work quickly with BioWare to rectify the problem.
That was before the update, of course. With this week’s event, Operation Silencer, PS3 players will again be able to participate and as BioWare announced yesterday, they will be able to for all events going forward. To make up for missing out on previous events and not having a chance to earn the exclusive N7 items, all previous Commendation Packs from the Bounty Weekends will be handed out for free.
Sony has not yet approved the promotion. We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC.
Great news! We do wonder however, why this took so long and why it wasn’t worked out from the get-go.
Mass Effect 3 is now available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
