Twitter user MauroNL3 discovered some Cloud Chamber Studios job listings that potentially reveal some details about what fans can expect from BioShock 4. The job listings repeatedly refer to “a new and fantastical world,” strongly implying that the upcoming BioShock 4 will have a completely new setting instead of returning to Rapture or Columbia. This may disappoint some fans of the franchise, but others will be excited to have completely new areas to explore.

The job listings also reveal that BioShock 4 is likely going to use Unreal Engine 4, and that it is being developed for next-gen consoles. Barring any unforeseen exclusivity agreements, this means that fans can expect BioShock 4 to release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with PS4 and Xbox One versions not very likely. This also means that the new BioShock game reveal is probably still quite a long time away.

Since the BioShock 4 reveal is likely years away, it means fans won’t get answers to their questions any time soon. However, they can continue to check out Cloud Chamber job listings for more details. Previously, some Cloud Chamber job listings confirmed that BioShock 4 will be first-person, which is good news for fans who have enjoyed the first-person shooter/RPG hybrid action of the previous BioShock titles.

The first-person view isn’t the only thing that BioShock 4 will be carrying over from past games. Fans can also look forward to BioShock 4’s narrative being set up similarly to previous BioShock games with the story told through exploration instead of cut-scenes. This detail was also revealed by a Cloud Chamber Studios job listing, and so that seems like it will be the main source of information about the new game until a proper reveal takes place, whenever that may be.

It’s a shame that the BioShock series skipped this generation, but it looks like it will finally make its long-awaited comeback on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Considering how highly-rated the previous games in the series are, BioShock 4 has a lot to live up to, so hopefully it meets fan expectations.

BioShock 4 is in development for next-generation consoles.
